Prince Edward County has a rich heritage as the land of refuge for the United Empire Loyalists. Those that were loyal to King George during the American Revolution, fled to this safe haven, and built it into a very prosperous community.

Prince Edward County boasts over 800 kilometers of shoreline, and includes some of the most beautiful beaches in Canada. Sandbanks Provincial Park provides recreation for thousands of summer visitors. Sailing and boating of all kinds entice those that love the water to visit and utilize the many marinas that service the County. Bird watching has gained national attention here as the County is a stop over for numerous species of water foul and other migratory birds. Cycling and walking tours are also very popular here. The Prince Edward Marathon, held in October attracts over a thousand runners from all over.

Resorts such as Isaiah Tubbs and the Waring House provide visitors with five star accommodations and gourmet meals. World class restaurants can be found throughout the Quinte region.
